RULES / FORMATS

Please note: The Captain has priority on the course at all times. Knock-out competitions also have priority on the course (except on Saturdays between 7.30 am and mid-day).
Members are reminded that they should let these matches through.


Format of Men's Internal Club Competitions
Singles Knock-outs 18 hole match play (36 in the case of the final of the Surrey Cup); Full difference in handicap
Foursomes Knock-outs 18 hole match play (36 in the case of the final of the Childs Green); 1/2 of difference in combined handicap
Four-ball Knock-outs 18 hole match play;lowest handicapper to concede strokes to other 3 payers based on 3/4 of the difference between the full handicaps
Greensomes Stableford Pairs playing in fours 3/8 of combined handicap

General rules to be applied to all competitions

1.1 The format and conditions under which all competitions are to be played will be determined by the competitions committee-these are to be strictly observed.
1.2 All decisions by the competitions committee or its appointed representatives shall be final.
1.3 All competitions will be played off the markers as stipulated on the Competitions Starting Sheet.
1.4 Each player is responsible for acquainting himself with the conditions under which the competition is to be played.
1.5 Score cards must be completed in accordance with the rules of Golf and alterations must be initialled by the marker. No alterations may be made once a card has been submitted. Incorrect cards will be penalised in accordance with the rules.
1.6 All entrance fees must be paid on entry or as otherwise expressly indicated-failure to comply deems automatic disqualification.
1.7 The reserved or agreed starting time must be strictly observed. Competitors will:
Report to the starter not less than five minutes before teeing off time, failure to do so will result in a penalty of two strokes, one hole or two points as applicable to the competition. Failure to report at the tee off time will result in automatic disqualification from the competition.
1.8 In addition to the disqualification referred to in 1.7 above, the following disqualification rules will apply to players in men's competitions failing to observe the correct procedures for withdrawing from the competition or failing to appear:
(a)
failure to appear at all for a competition without contacting the competition official or competition committee chairman will result in disqualification from 3-week end competitions to commence two weeks from the sending of the disqualification notice. Persistent offenders will be subject to further action.
(b)
entering the competition and then cancelling within 24 hours of the date of the competition or appearing after your allocated start time, then repeating either these within 16 weeks, is will result in a two-weekend ban.
(c)
any appeal in respect of disqualification must be directed to the competition chairman.
(d)
cancellation from any competition will only be valid if you have either entered your name on the cancellation sheet or contacted the competition official or handicap/competitions chairman. Notification to any other person will be deemed invalid and a member will be subject to (a) above.
1.9 If the course be deemed unplayable during play by the committee or its authorised representative, a klaxon will be sounded. Play will be resumed in accordance with the rules of golf 36-4c or 37-6b as applicable.
1.10 1.68 golf balls to be used in all men's competitions.
1.11 Any dispute regarding competitions must be referred to the competition official.
2 KNOCKOUT COMPETITIONS
2.1 The general rules laid down in section 1 above shall apply
2.2 All fees to be paid at the time of entering names on the list. Players not having paid will not be included in the draw.
2.3 Players may only enter their names on entry sheet who have a bonafide handicap.
2.4 The competitions committee will stipulate the limit of time within which each round will be completed. All matches must be completed by the stipulated date-no individual extensions will be granted except for finals.
2.5 The onus is on both sides to make suitable arrangements to complete a match before the stipulated completion date. Failure to complete the match before the stipulated completion date will result in disqualification of both sides. The team presenting themselves on the tee at 1 pm on the stipulated completion date of the competition prepared to play will be awarded the match.
2.6 Except for midweek competitions, a choice of 3 dates must be given, at least one of which must be a weekend.
2.7 In the event of a tie the match must continue and be decided on a sudden death basis, commencing with the hole first played.
2.8 It is the responsibility of both sides to record the result on the competition draw sheet
