“Don’t play too much golf. Two rounds a day are plenty.” Harry Vardon
Spring is a great time to take up golf or to dust off those clubs after the winter months. The days are getting longer and brighter, the temperatures are slowly rising and the greens and fairways are looking spectacular.
Plus last weekend had seen the first major golfing tournament of the year; the 80th edition of the Masters Tournament. Held from April 8th until 10th at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, English professional, Danny Willett won his first major championship. As such, he was the first European golfer in 17 years to win at Augusta National and only the second Englishman to hold the title of US Masters champion.
Plus Danny Willett may have been the overall winner, but two other English golfers ended the tournament on a high note, with Lee Westwood and Paul Casey coming joint second and fourth respectively.
With such an entertaining tournament and strong English contingent, golfers – whether new to the sport or keen amateurs – cannot fail to be motivated to book a tee or lesson. And don’t forget the fantastic health benefits that comes with playing golf. Walking an average course for a round of golf is not only great for your heart, but burns plenty of calories. Playing golf on a regular basis can help you stay fit, lose weight, and improve endurance and muscle tone – without any sweat, lycra, running machines or weights involved!
Golf can also help reduce stress and be a great way to meet and stay in touch with new people.
And whilst there will still be some who write off golf as a ‘rich person’s sport’, spring is also the season when you are most likely to save money. Annual membership fees tend to run from the start of August until the end of July; this means that if you are thinking of joining a golf club now, many clubs will heavily discount the remaining spring months as an incentive.
In fact, here at Warley Park Golf Club, we do more than offer a discount. If you join during April or May, your golf membership fees are reduced so that April, May, June and July are effectively completely free, or to put it another way, 16 months for the price of 12!
As one of the premier golf clubs in Essex, Warley Park has everything you could possibly wish for, no matter what your golfing ability. A superb 27 hole golf course, a full and interesting diary of golfing and social events, professional golf tuition and lessons, pro shop, Swing DNA custom fitting, a stunning lounge and restaurant, an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 from our members…
So if you are thinking of taking up golf, or are considering moving to a new golf club, contact Warley Park Golf Club today to enjoy exceptional facilities, a warm welcome and 16 months for the price of 12.
